Top 10 Beauty Myths

Myth 1: Rubbing lemon on your teeth will give you pearly white teeth.
This actually does work, but it comes with a price. While lemons do help you get lighter locks, they don’t really work on your teeth since the citric acid in lemons wears away enamel. Save the lemons for the lemonade and instead brush your teeth with water and baking soda a couple times a week to get those pearly whites at home.

Myth 2: Fake nails will destroy your real nails.
Not true. It is not the artificial nail or the glue that ultimately causes nail damage, but improper removal—such as picking or prying off. So if you just take care of your nails and remove them properly, there will be absolutely no damage to your nails.

Myth 3: Lazer hair removal does not work for light hair.
Who came up with that? Either way, it’s not true. Although laser hair removal does work better for darker hair, lighter does works just as fine. With lighter hair, you’ll see about 70-80% removal of the hair. So just go one extra time and you’ll be fine!

Myth 4: You need frequent haircuts if you want your hair to grow longer.
Wrong again. Your hair will grow at the same speed with or without a haircut. But regular haircuts will help improve the overall health of your hair as well as getting rid of those pesky split ends.

Myth 5: Petite girls can't pull off lingerie.
Another stupid myth made up by guys who like big-chested girls. There are so many different types of lingerie out there made for every body, including petite. So next time you wanna surprise your man but you think you won’t be able to pull it off, just go out and find a nice up-lifting water bra and it’ll do the job!

Myth 6: Breakouts are caused by oily skin.
Although breakouts are associated with oily skin, that is not always the cause. In most cases, breakouts happen because the skin is so sensitive that you might be using the wrong products, therefore causing more pimples. So if you have oily skin and you’ve tried everything, try sensitive formulas and you’ll start seeing some change.

Myth 7: Organic products are weak.
Whoever made that up is seriously disturbed because organic beauty products are the best you can get! They’re skin friendly so they won’t clog your pores and they protect your skin from all the harmful pollutants out there. Plus, you don’t get all the chemicals so organic beauty products is really the way to go.

Myth 8: You cant pull off all colors.
If there is one thing I always hear from my girlfriends is that ‘'I can’t wear THAT color!’', which is absolutely ridiculous. The one thing you have to pay special attention to is the shades of the color as well as the undertones. So while a hot, fiery red might not suit your complexion, a toned-down version might do you wonders!

Myth 9: Chlorine turns your hair green.
So not true. Copper, not chlorine, will turn your hair green. If a pool is not properly maintained and cleaned regulary, it can have copper residue which in turn could turn your hair a greenish color. Now this is mostly for blondes since their pigment is so light, but all you have to do is switch to a low pH shampoo which will help combat against greening.

Myth 10: Crossing your legs will give you spider veins.
Very untrue. Most people that hair spider veins or vericosse veins have them because either their mother or grandmother had them. It’s all in the genes!

Flat Irons

Here are 10 tips to help you and your flat iron work side-by-side without damaging your hair.

1. Keep your flat iron clean. It will last longer and do less damage to your hair.

2. Use a styling aid to prevent frizz before you blow dry. Sealed Ends by BC Bonicure seal the ends of your hair locking out frizziness by 79 percent. Use it after your blow dry to get rid of frizz.

3. Practice before you head out to any major event. It's very easy to use once you get the knack of it.

4. When using the iron on your hair comb on the section you are using first, before running the iron through it.

5. Try avoiding using any products until you finish straightening out your hair.

6. Use small sections. The smaller the section the flatter and more weightless your hair will be.

7. Use even pressure while stroking your flat iron from the root to the end without stopping on any part of the sectioned hair.

8. Use a wide bristle brush on your hair while brushing your desired shape into place.

9. Use a lightweight serum to smooth any frizz left over. You'll only need a little.

10. Let your iron cool; clean its surface with a cloth so youll be ready to use it again tomorrow.

Best Old Hollywood Curls

Christina Aguilera's hair is almost as famous as she is with its striking platinum color and major volume.

For curls like her, set hair on medium to jumbo rollers. Once cool, glide off the sections gently and fluff through. To add extra definition, wind each ringlet around a curling iron. You'll be left with sexy, well shaped, eye-catching curls.

Warehouse One: The Jean Store

Hey! I just thought I'd tell you guys about a store thats not as known as it should be, warehouse one. Recently there has been a Warehouse One store built by my house so I thought I'd stop in for a look. Wow! Can you say cheap? Warehouse One is constantly having mad sales, Im talking jeans for 4 dollars, shirts for 2 dollars, etc. It's crazy! I bought a pair of awesome jeans for 4 dollars, marked down from THIRTY! This is definetly a place you have to check out! They sell men and womens clothing. They have shirts, pants, jeans, accesories, the works! Definetly a cool place. Check it out!

9. Face Shapes and Hairstyles

Determining the best hairstyle for your face has alot to do with your face shape. Read these tips below to help find your perfect hairstyle!

Oval Face - Length equal to one and a half times width.
Round Face - Your face is as wide as it is long. This may vary a little but generally the measurement is close.
Oblong - Longer than it is wide.
Heart - Narrow at jaw line, wide at cheekbones/and or forehead.
Square - your face is about as wide as it is long.
Diamond - Widest at cheekbones, narrow forehead and jaw line of approximately equal widths.
-
1. If your face is OVAL shaped.
You can wear a variety of styles, msot any hair shape looks great on you!
You can wear short, medium and long hair styles. Your face shape is well "balanced" or in even proportion
Celebrity with oval shaped face: Jennifer Aninston

2. If your face is RECTANGULAR or OBLONG shaped.
You should try short to medium lengths with soft wispy bangs. By cutting the hair into a short or medium length, the outline of the cut will also shorten the look of the length of the face. Layers work great with your face shape, as they will add softness to the straight lines in your face. Try side parts, and you may be able to wear straight back styles.
Avoid to much hair length(your face will look even longer!) And center parts.
Celebrity with rectangular shaped face: Kirstie Alley

3. If your face is ROUND shaped.
Try Short hair styles with a swept-back direction or hair styles that are longer than chin length with off center parts. By layering the top to achieve fullness and keeping the rest of the cut relatively close to the face, your round face shape will appear longer and narrower
Avoid Center parts. Short-short crops, straight "chopped" bangs. And chin length hair that mirrors your faces shape.
Celebrity with round shaped face: Drew Barrymore

4. If your face is SQUARE shaped.
Try short-to-medium length hair, especially with wave or roundness around the face with wispy bangs and off center parts.
Avoid Long straight styles that accentuate square jawbone. "Linear" straight bangs or center parts. A straight bob ending at the jaw line is the wrong thing to do for your face shape. You can wear a layered bob, however it should end above or below the jaw line.
Celebrity with square shaped face: Sandra Bullock

5. If your face is HEART shaped.
Try chin-length or longer styles. Side-parted hair styles. Swept-forward layers around the upper face, gently wispy bangs. A chin length bob is great on your face shape!
Avoid Short, full styles that emphasize upper face.
Celebrity with heart shaped face: Jennifer Love Hewitt

6. If your face is TRIANGULAR shaped.
Shorter hair that balances prominent jaw line. Wedges and shags look great on you. You need lots of layers to achieve fullness through the upper part of your face. Try tucking hair behind your ears as this will draw attention to your eyes and add width in this area.
Avoid long, full hair styles that draw attention to jaw line. Center parts. If going with long hair, it should be kept tight at the nape.
Celebrity with trianguler shaped face: Kathy Ireland

Hopefully this will help you find your perfect hairsyle!

8. Attempt to Fade Black Hair #2

Day 2 on trying to fade my black hair!
So my shower today I washed again with the Mane n Tail horse shampoo(see previous posts.) as yesterdays shower I saw some hairdye come out.
I really rubbed the shampoo into my scalp and let it sit for a few minutes. When I washed it out, I did actually see some more hairdye come out! Success! Well .... hopefully.
I still don't see a big change in color and it's still pretty black, so I have to be patient.
I might give up and just dye my hair again, but I'll keep you guys posted!

Subscribe and tell your friends about this brand new blog! :D

7. Sexyhair Chocolate Soy Milk Shampoo

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
This is my current shampoo (I have it in a big salon sized bottle.) And I must say, it works fabulous and makes my hair smell like yummy chocolate. This is a definite good buy, I bought it at my salon (you can get it at any hair salon) for around twenty dollars, and thats pretty good for my big bottle. :) I recomend this if you want healthy hair, that smells deliciously chocolatey. This shampoo is also color safe, so it won't fade your hair or damage it in any way.

6. Revlon Makeup Eraser Pen

Yes! Finally a make-up eraser stick to quickly get rid of small mistakes, rather than using the greasy make-up remover from a bottle.
I find that this works great if I accidently smudge my eyeliner or mascara, you just scribble over and wipe away with a kleenex and its good as new, rather than getting out the whole makeup remover bottle and making a big greasy mess and accidently removing other make-up.
I definetly reccomend this.

5. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner

This is the eyeliner I am using right now, Revlon Colorstay in 'Brown Black'. I like this eyeliner because it isn't a pencil eyeliner or a liquid eyeliner, it's the crayon type thats is comfortable and easy to use. On the bottom it has a handy pull out little sharpener to sharpen dull ends which I find useful if I want thin lines. I find that this eyeliner stays on well and works well, it glides on easily(unless you forget to put the lid on, then it dries out a bit.) but it's not messy at all like liquid eyeliner, and its not pointy and pokey like a pencil eyeliner. It's also easy to wipe off if you make a mistake, but it stays on great throughout the day. Two thumbs up.

4. American Apparel

I just thought I would like to share with you guys my favorite store where I get most of my clothes, American Apparel.
This is definetly a store you have to check out, either at one of their worldwide locations or the online store. They have simple stylish clothes that are super comfortable and cute.
A plus is that theyre clothes arent made in sweatshops as well.
Check it out.

3. Fading Dyed Hair Without A Salon

Yesterday I dyed my hair a dark brown and it turned out an awful jet black. I'm talkin BLACK. So now I want to experiment with different things I've read on the internet to see how I can fade my hair without bleaching or dying it. :)

Here are some things I did find on the internet that will apparently fade hair:
1. Dandruff Shampoo
2. Mane n Tail Horse Shampoo
3. Lemon Juice
4. Dawn Dishsoap
5. Lemon Joy Dish Soap
6. Tide Laundry Detergent
(In the United States they do sell a color remover called "Color Oops", apparently it works well, so for all you fellow Americans, look for Color Oops and tell me how it works! I might pick up a box next time I'm down there)

So! Today I ran out to London Drugs and picked up 2 things to try.
1. A cheap Dandruff Shampoo

2. Mane n Tail horse Shampoo (Apparently this also makes your hair healthy and nice.)

Attempt to Fade Black Hair # 1
Okay, so tonight when I showered I shampood my hair with the Mane n Tail horse shampoo (see above.) I let it sit on my hair for a few minutes and when i rinsed it out, I did actually see some hairdye come out in the water! Success! My hair also felt really silky. I have to have patience though, as my hair is dry now I do not see any difference... yet. Tomorrow I shall wash my hair again. Im undecided on whether to use the mane n tail again, or the dandruff shampoo. :)
Although I might give up and dye it again....
I shall update you on my experiences. :)
Happy fading!
Please comment with any of your experiences with fading your hair. :)
